Oat Meal

This was suggested to me by a friend and I cannot thank her much since this is Aryan's FAVOURITE (anti-jinx)!!
Easy to cook & all time favourite ...what more to ask for!

White Oats - 1 Tbsp
Milk - 1 Glass
Sugar - 1 tsp

Mix everything in a pan and bring it to boil. Sim and cook for 3-4 minutes.

A very healthy , yummy breakfast is ready!! Even we have this breakfast once a week.

Variations :
1. You can add dates while cooking. My friend used to do that but I never tried.
2. You can add banana and/or apples after its ready.

Note : Picture source is here

Sooji Kheer

This was one of the first solids for Aryan and I still give it to him for breakfast. As per my mom it was my favourite too !

Semolina(Sooji/Rava) - 1 Tbsp
Milk - 1 Glass
Sugar - 1 tsp

1. Roast semolina in a pan to light brown.
2. Sim the flame and add Milk slowly and stir continously to avoid lumps
3. Add sugar and cook for 1-2 minutes

Sooji Kheer is ready!!

Mashed and Roasted Potatoes

It was of the first few semi-solids that I started with Anirudh. And he simply loved it and still does. Its a nice filling snack which his Dad also loves.

1. Boil potatoes
2. Mash them.
3. Add salt to taste
4. Add grated cheese if you want.
5. Spread it on nonstick tawa and pat it flat. Keep the fire to low.
6. Use little butter for a good taste.
7. When slightly brown, flip it and roast on the other side.

Ta-da! Its ready! You can roast it as per liking. Those who prefer it slightly more browner/crisper, roast it longer.

Food, food , food..wonderful food!

I've always been a foodie as long as I can remember it. Lets ignore the times when I would trouble my mom by fussing over the things on my plate during dinner times..shall we? :D

I just LOVE to eat! Be it any cuisine. Be it veg or non-veg. Although I rarely eat non-veg(once in 2-3 months) since hubby is a vegetarian. I've been known for my love for food not only at home but also at work place. And I was so famous for it that my colleagues would say if you can't find her, find food. She will be right there! :P In fact I did a post on my blog talking about this strong bonding with food that I have!

I like to cook as well as eat. Although the latter would take more priority any given day! But whatever little bit of cooking I do, I will try and put some of those ready-in-a-jiffy recipes that I know or try which have turned out yummy. My recipes will purely be vegetarian since I have never cooked non-veg.

On second thoughts writing these recipes for me would be really tough since I've been a person who never measures ingredients. I always use my gut feel about proportions and cook unless I'm myself following a recipe. Still I will try my best but you have to promise not to blame me for any fiascoes :P

So what are we waiting for? Bring out those aprons, those ingredients, those ladles and spoons and lets start cooking!!

Welcome to this space. A space for the Mum's who have been struggling to provide taste and health AND VARIETY to their kids. Please please contribute to the initiative and write your recipes.
